Legend of the Seas to Offer Expert Port Lecture on Hong Kong

SINGAPORE, April 21, 2009 – Guests on the upcoming April 24 cruise on Royal Caribbean International's Legend of the Seas from Shanghai can look forward to getting the best tips on touring Hong Kong first-hand from a local expert onboard while sailing to the 'Pearl of the Orient'.

The port lecture program is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between Royal Caribbean International and Hong Kong Tourism Board, to promote the city's as an exciting port-of-call to the ship guests with a unique perspective. During the sailing, Legend of the Seas' guests will be treated to a live presentation on Hong Kong's history, culture, places of interest and activities, which they can discover once ashore. In addition, the lecturer will be available at a special hospitality desk for all guests' enquiries on touring Hong Kong.

The lecturer Mr Lawrence Tsui was invited by Royal Caribbean upon Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB)'s recommendation. He is a Hong Kong permanent resident with a master degree in tourism management and business administration who has been involved in heritage and rural tourism projects. Mr Tsui has served in the Hong Kong as well as Canadian government. He will be sharing with passengers his unique insights and passion for Hong Kong’s past, present and future.

Rama Rebbapragada, Royal Caribbean's Regional Vice President, International, said, "We are delighted to have Mr Tsui onboard Legend of the Seas thanks to Hong Kong Tourism Board, and we believe that this program will be an educational and eye-opening one even to seasoned visitors of Hong Kong. What he can share with our guests will greatly complement our ship’s shore excursion programs, by helping them better plan their time and activities in Hong Kong, and in turn enhance their travel experience ashore."

Miss Gilly Wong, General Manager of MICE and Cruise, the HKTB said, "The port lecture programme is a new initiative of the HKTB. By collaborating with cruise lines and arrange local experts to give pre-arrival lectures, we aim to inform cruise passengers of Hong Kong's diverse appeal by enhancing their understanding of the city in a more profound way. The HKTB is highly appreciative of RCCL's support and we will continue working closely with our cruise industry partners to entice cruise passengers' interest in experiencing the city."

The port lecture program will be held on the three-night cruise from Shanghai to Hong Kong which stops over at Xiamen. This cruise is also part of the 14 Night Southeast Asia Cruise from Shanghai to Singapore featuring a mix of popular and exotic destinations such as Sanya, Hue/Danang, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok.
